I don't believe that anyone could say this better then the Beatles in their song "Revolution". My interpretion of these lyrics is essential: To always speak your mind, although you know that people aren't going to like. But this will always happen.
I think that another way of saying this is in Linkin Park's song "Hands Held High" : "Say something that you know they might attack you for,
cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before
like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for."
I think that one of the most important abilitys that human beings have, is the ability to have and speak their opinion. After all, if people didn't speak their mind, then where would our world be? The United States wouldn't exist, hell, most countries wouldn't; their would be no "democracy" because nobody what have said anything. Essentially, nobody should be afraid of what people might do when they speak their opinion.I also believe, strongly, that if anybody has an issue with what I say, they can check out the First Amendment. The First Amendment states:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
I find it interesting that nobody has a problem "pleading the fifth" or using their Fifth Amendment right to being "Until Proven Innocent",Yet people decide that it is their place to restrict/change what other people think or preach and challenge the First Amendment. Even though that admendment practically created the United States. That
everyone, regardless of age/sex/race, can say what they think when they think it where they think it.
Why is it that it is ok for audlts to use this right, but not people under the age of 18? Is it because we don't have opinions? Guess what, we DO. Or is it because they think that we are too immature to have rational thoughts? Well guess what, most of us ARE.
Maybe every citizen needs to read over these admendments that give everyone the rights that they think only apply to certian people. Maybe they need to read over the ideas that most other people wish they could annouce. Maybe they need to read over these rights that we treasure so dearly, yet most of us don't even know what some of them mean or are. Can any adult that reads this blog tell me how many admendments their are in the Bill of Rights, without looking it up in your Google Search Bar??? No, most can't. Why not? Because they haven't actually looked at these admendments that you cherish so much.
Why don't all of you just do your selves and every other person in this world a favor, and read what you think is
so great about the United States? Here's a big hint, look through the Constitution of the United States of America and the Declaration of Independence. You don't even have to read the whole thing, just
SKIM it. Please!
